MLK Day Community Event Lunch, Learning, and Food Distribution

Hosted by: The Sanneh Foundation in partnership with Indigenous Food Lab staff
In honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr Day, The Sanneh Foundation is hosting a community focused Lunch and Learn highlighting the people and foods that fueled the Civil Rights Movement. This event brings together adults and families for learning, connection, and nourishment, followed by an afternoon food distribution serving our community.
Volunteers help create a welcoming and dignified experience for families while supporting food service, event flow, and food access. Children’s activities are led by staff, with volunteers providing general support.
Volunteer Opportunities and Roles:
Event support
9:30 to 1:30 PM
Assist with event set up, welcome guests, support food service during the Lunch and Learn, help with transitions, provide flex support as needed throughout the event, and assist with clean up following the program.
Food Distribution
12:00 to 2:30 PM
Help distribute pre packed food boxes to community members.
Additional Information:
This is a family friendly (ages 10+) community event
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes
Some roles involve standing and light lifting
Lunch will be provided for volunteers supporting the event
